Admission Requirements

Applicants:

  • should hold a bachelor’s degree, or qualification of equivalent standard fromanother university or comparable institution; and
  • should have a degree from a university in Hong Kong or an English speaking country; or submit one of the following original score reports/certificates for assessment:

    - TOEFL (minimum score: 550 Paper-based; 213 computer-based; and 79 internet-based);

    - IELTS (Academic) (Band 6.5 or above);

    - College English Test (CET 6) of PRC (450 or above) ; and

  • will be given preference with a background in social sciences and/or humanities.;and
  • if short-listed, may be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.


Tuition fee and Scholarship

The tuition fee of the whole Programme for AY 2018-2019 is $98,,000 (subject to the University's approval) which is payable in two semester for 1 year Full-time programme. Some courses (please visit Course List page for details) in MSocSc (Contemporary China Studies) are reimbursable by the Continuing Education Fund (CEF) courses. Eligible applicants for the CEF will be reimbursed 80% of their fees, subject to a maximum sum of HK$10,000. You may also visit CEF website for more information: http://www.sfaa.gov.hk/cef/

Scholarship in MCCS Programme is in Merit-based and will be given to students who achieved outstanding academic performance.

Application materials (including a Prospectus) can be obtained from the Office of Graduate School (located at AAB904, Level 9 of Academic and Administration Building, 15 Baptist University Road) or through the internet at the Graduate School webpage at http://gs.hkbu.edu.hk/en/home/apply/. Application can be submitted in person to the Office of Graduate School during office hours or to the collection box outside the office from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily, or by mail to the same office, or through the internet.
